Nairobi Twitter Space with Ideate Policy

In collaboration with Ideate Tech Policy, the Edgelands Nairobi team organized a Twitter space focused on highlighting the Diagnostic Report. The event explored topics such as digital surveillance, the gendered impacts of security digitization, socio-economic influences on surveillance technology deployment, and their effects on the social contract in Nairobi.

Sumaiyah, a moderator who is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Data Protection Officer, led the event. Panelists included Nanjira Sambuli, a Policy Analyst and strategist specializing in the gendered impacts of digitization and ICT adoption in Africa, and Mugambi Laibuta, who holds multiple roles including Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, Certified Information Privacy Manager, trained Mediator, Legislative Counsel, Policy Analyst, and Privacy and Data Protection Specialist. Additionally, Njeri Wangarĩ, an accomplished Kenyan poet, fiction and nonfiction writer, communications specialist, and cultural practitioner with over 18 years of experience, contributed to the discussion.
